GUILDERLAND — In a year in which it was difficult to find things to celebrate, Scout Troop 50 from St. Madeleine Sophie Parish in Guilderland was able to find a bright spot. In fact, we were able to find six bright spots in 2021 as we had six of our scouts obtain the rank of Eagle Scout this year.

GUILDERLAND — One of the special things that a Boy Scout troop can do is help one of their own with his Eagle Scout project.  The rewards are two-fold for the participants.

GUILDERLAND — One of the great things about Boy Scouts is watching these young men take on leadership roles and be very successful at it.  Case in point was a recent trip by a group of Scouts from Troop 50 in Guilderland.

GUILDERLAND — Troop 50 from St. Madeleine Sophie Parish held a Court of Honor on Wednesday, Sept. 24, to award the merit badges earned during the summer and at summer camp as well as award rank advancements.

GUILDERLAND — On Friday evening, Sept. 12, eleven scouts and three adults from Guilderland’s Troop 50 left Guilderland to attend the annual Twin Rivers Council Fall Camporee.  This year, the camporee was held in Plattsburgh in conjunction with the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Plattsburgh, which was part of the War of 1812.

On Nov. 11, eight Scouts and three adults from St. Madeleine Sophie Troop 50 went on a hike to Sleeping Beauty Mountain in the Adirondacks.  Sleeping Beauty, which is 2,129 feet, has a great view of Lake George to the west and the Green Mountains of Vermont to the east.

GUILDERLAND — On Sept. 7, fifteen Scouts and six adults from St. Madeleine Sophie Troop 50 went on our annual trip to Scout Island.  Scout Island is located on the Great Sacandaga Resevoir in the town of Mayfield.
