BERNE — Diane Dibble would like to change the hours of the town clerk’s office to accommodate residents who want services in the evening. She is an enrolled Democrat but said she has applied to change to Republican, the party line on which she is running.

BERNE — The town’s deputy town clerk for the past eight years, Democrat Anita Clayton, is running to be town clerk. She is endorsed by the Democratic, Conservative, and Independence parties.

BERNE — All but one race in Berne has incumbents, with mostly Democrats against Republican challengers who criticize the town’s handling of a resolution opposing the state’s gun-control legislation passed at the beginning of the year.

Although nearly half the town's voters are enrolled as Democrats and a decade ago the party dominated, it is now the small parties that are determining the winners.

KNOX — The total collapse of a nearly finished barn on West Road is being investigated by State Police as the owner, Vasilios Lefkaditis, says supporting posts had been sawed.

Candidates for town board and town clerk/tax collector have been endorsed by all four major parties.

RENSSELAERVILLE — This is the second consecutive unopposed election for Valerie Lounsbury. She wants to finish what she’s started, two years into the job.

RENSSELAERVILLE — After retiring from a career in the state’s Department of Transportation, Randall Bates sought an elective office in Rensselaerville to remain productive, in the thick of ice and snow coming down on the town’s long, rural roads.

RENSSELAERVILLE — Now in her first term as a town board member, Marion Cooke wants to continue for another four years.

“I’m running because I think the town is running on an even keel and I’d like to see it stay that way,” said Cooke, who is also deputy supervisor.

RENSSELAERVILLE — To be and remain a rural community requires pro-active work, according to Jeannette Rice. The Democratic candidate for town council sees a board role for supporting farms and small businesses.
