GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland Town Board and the Altamont Village Board of Trustees each approved resolutions, with all affirming votes on Tuesday, to annex 52 acres of land from Guilderland to the village.

“He always loved to look at things from the historic perspective,” said Mr. Persico's wife, Sylvia LaVista Persico, this week. “He liked the investigative work involved in being a historian.”

The same night that he was released, Guilderland Police observed Hawes driving while intoxicated at 1810 Western Ave.

GUILDERLAND — A Florida man was arrested on Friday night after he was found asleep at the wheel of his truck, which was parked in a driving lane on Western Avenue.

GUILDERLAND — Michael Cahill hopes to generate drive-in traffic in the auto repair shop he recently opened in his hometown.

A McKownville resident for more than 30 years, he opened Cahill’s Auto Garage, at 1436 Western Ave., 10 days ago.

“We actually started as more of a holistic health practice 35 years ago,” said Father Peter Young this week. “We’re sort of trying to go back to our roots now.”

ALTAMONT — The Giraffe Menagerie is a big draw for kids at The Altamont Fair because they get to feed a variety of animals, including Twiggs.

Twiggs is the Coronas family’s 16-year-old giraffe. They have owned him, as part of their Coronas of Hollywood show, since he was 3.

GUILDERLAND — The St. Boniface Episcopal Church is growing, in square footage, and, Father Steven Scherck hopes, in membership.

Scherck has been the rector at the church, located at 5148 Western Ave., for five years, but said the need for the building’s improvements were apparent long before that.

Prospect Hill Cemetery, which has been a town landmark since the 1850s, is facing financial difficulties.

The owner of Disc-connected K9s, which performs tricks with dogs at the fair, was once an Ultimate Frisbee world champion.
