To the Editor:

I would like to thank Cherry Neil for her letter last week regarding the services provided by the Guilderland Public Library. [“My library tax dollars are perhaps the best value around,” online at www.AltamontEnterprise.com.]

There will be many activities to celebrate this summer in the village of Altamont.  I thought it would be helpful if I gave you a brief synopsis of the many scheduled events.  Enjoy the coming months.  They should present a great summer for culture, music, and entertainment!

To the Editor:

A Cancer Benefit Garage Sale will be held in Westerlo at the Westerlo Reformed Church on Route 143 in Westerlo on Saturday, June 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

To the Editor:

I would like to thank all who selected me as grand marshall of the Memorial Day parade.

It was a good day and a great parade. It was well organized and came off well.

Again, thanks to the Helderberg American Legion Post 977 and to the Boyd Hilton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7062.

To the Editor:

Are New York’s Forests an endangered species?

To the Editor:

One of the ways that teams are learning to work together involves activities far away from the playing field. With declining budgets and rising expenses, sports teams and clubs must engage in fund-raising activities in order to get new supplies and equipment.

To the Editor:

Historical research often answers one question but poses another. The Knox Historical Society confronted just such a question this spring as it readied the 1972 sesquicentennial booklet for re-issue.

To the Editor:

As we dust off the backyard grill, get ready to attend local parades, and start to plan our summer vacations, we should take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day.

To the Editor:

Something uniquely Guilderland took place at the high school on May 14.

About 500 music students from grades five through high school presented a district-wide concert. It’s such a big deal it would be difficult to do on an annual basis so it is presented once every three years.

To the Editor:

Recently, a local television station published an opinion segment critical of the money that the Guilderland Public Library spends to inform the citizens we serve about the library’s programs, services, and collections.

To the Editor:
The Altamont Senior Citizens Group, which meets for lunch on Tuesdays at St. Lucy’s Parish Center on Grand Street, is holding a special program on May 27, following the luncheon.
