The Berne-Knox-Wesrerlo girls' basketball team has used tough non-league games this season to better prepare for Western Athletic Conference play.

BKW boys' basketball is at the top of the Western Athletic Conference standings with a 6-1 record (8-5 overall).

This week, the Bulldogs beat Sharon Springs, 74 to 34, on the road, and then followed that up with a 74-to-71 win at home against Middleburgh on Wednesday. 

The Guilderland girls' basketball team was trying to inspire younger players, and it definitely worked.

Last Tuesday's game went down the drain for the Voorheesville girls' basketball team.

Now is the time to sign up for spring sports at Guilderland High School.

 

Spring sports include boys’ and girls’ track and field, boys’ and girls’ lacrosse, softball, baseball, and boys’ tennis.

 

Special Olympics New York’s 2014 Capital District Region Winter Games will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, at West Mountain in Glens Falls. Competitions will be held in Nordic skiing, alpine skiing, and snowshoeing.

 

The Schenectady-Guilderland-Scotia Student Rowing Club is having an informational meeting at the Guilderland Public Library on Tuesday, January 28 at 6:45 p.m.    

The club is seeking rowers for the spring 2014 season. SGS rows on the Mohawk River and is open to new and returning rowers who are in seventh to 12th grade. 

Thompson’s Lake State Park in East Berne will host its annual Ice Fishing Contest on Feb. 1.

Registration begins at 5:30 a.m. Fishing and fish measurement will be held from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration fee is $10 per person. 

The Guilderland Girls Softball League is now accepting registrations for the 2014 season.
