After making the playoffs in 2011 and 2012, the Dutchmen football team will not settle for another quarterfinal loss. 

Prizes include rounds of golf at Troy Country Club, The Edison Club, The Lazy Swan, Wiltwyck Country Club, Pinehaven CC, Hiland Country Club, Eagle Crest Golf Course, and Ballston Spa Country Club. 

The fastest man and woman earned double crowns in the last leg of the inaugural Hilltown Triple Crown Series.

GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland YMCA is presenting an adult learn-to-swim program open to the public and all YMCA members on Friday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. for eight weeks, running from Sept.13 to Nov. 1.

Classes are in small groups.

The last two years have been dismal for Voorheesville football, but the team is destined to turn things around.

The Delmar Dolfins will be holding evaluations for new swimmers on Thursday, Aug. 29 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, Sept. 7 from noon to 1 p.m. at Bethlehem High School.

The Albany Figure Skating Club will host a full-day United States Figure Skating Basic Skills Program workshop for coaches, skaters, and parents.  

Young pro football fans will have the opportunity to exhibit their punting, passing, and placekicking skills when Guilderland Pop Warner football hosts an NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competition on Thursday, Aug. 22. The event starts at 6 p.m. at the Nott Road Athletic Fields.

On Saturday, Aug. 24, the Empire Orienteering Club will hold an orienteering event in Berne in conjunction with the day-long Berne Summerfest.

A hayfield just over the Guilderland town line has been turned into a new park for competitive youth baseball. It's a work in progress, a field of dreams.

The inaugural Hilltown Triple Crown 5K Series has put a new spin on competitive running in the area. Runners can increase their point total from week to week.

Tech Valley Youth Golf is hosting a free golf day for girls on Monday, Aug. 19 at Sunny Hill Resort in Greenville. The event starts at 10 a.m.

The Albany Figure Skating Club had seven skaters compete among the more than 10,000 athletes from all over the United States at the eighth biennial State Games of America, held in Hershey, Pa. from July 31 to Aug. 4.
