How you can help Schoharie

Three of the major organizations in the Schoharie Valley collecting donations to help in the local relief effort are:

— Schoharie Recovery Inc., based from the Reformed Church, which sprang up after Tropical Storm Irene and is dedicated to the recovery effort in Schoharie.  Donations can be made through PayPal on its website, www.SchoharieRecovery.org, or sent by check, made payable to Schoharie Recovery, to P.O. Box 111, Schoharie, NY  12157;

— The Rural Area Revitalization Effort, which is working to rebuild communities in the southern part of Schoharie County.  Donations can be made through PayPal on its website, www.rareny.org, or by check, made payable to Rural Area Revitalization Effort, Inc., 125 Creamery Rd., North Blenheim, NY  12131; and

— Schoharie County Community Action Program, Inc., which runs a food pantry and serves as an advocate for needy families in the area.  It is helping in an effort to bring necessary goods and presents this season to families who suffered in the flood — it is called Christmas Hope 2011.  Donations can be made via PayPal at www.DuanesburgChurch.org or mailed to Reformed Presbyterian Church of Duanesburg, P.O. Box 218, Duanesburg, NY  12056.
