Crash leads to felony DWI arrest

GUILDERLAND — George Kuhn, 54, of Guilderland, was arrested for felony driving while intoxicated, after he hit another car and injured the female driver and 10-year-old passenger, according to a release from the City of Albany Police Department.

The release describes events this way:

On Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 9 p.m., Kuhn was driving a 2001 Chevy, speeding southbound on Route 155, in rainy conditions, when he rear-ended another car traveling in the same direction.

When Albany City Police officers arrived at the scene, Kuhn was incoherent, had slurred speech, smelled of alcohol, and could not submit to field sobriety tests. An open can of beer was found inside his car.

Both cars were totaled, and Kuhn, as well as the female driver and 10-year-old passenger in the other car suffered minor injuries, and were taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment.

Kuhn was charged with a prior DWI in 2009. He was arrested last week for felony DWI with a prior conviction and third-degree reckless assault, and ticketed for imprudent speed and drinking alcohol while driving.
