GTA offers scholarships for future educators

GUILDERLAND — Guilderland High School seniors who plan to work in education may apply for a $2,000 college scholarship from the Guilderland Teachers’ Association.

Briana Del Bene, who is now a student at The College of Saint Rose, was the 2009 recipient. The year before, Brittany Zadrozinski, now attending Le Moyne College, was chosen by a committee of teachers.

Applicants are judged on their high-school average, class rank, results of their college entrance exams, financial need, teacher recommendations, school activities, and out-of-school responsibilities.

The recipient gets $500 each year of college.

Kristin Casini (née Knapp) received the GTA Memorial Scholarship and is now teaching social studies at Guilderland High School.
