Orsini arrested for first-degree rape

GUILDERLAND — A 20-year-old Guilderland man was arrested Tuesday, by the Rotterdam Police Department, for first-degree rape.

Jeffrey Orsini Jr., of 5916 East Old State Road, allegedly used force to hold down a female, and had sexual intercourse with her against her will, according to a release from the Rotterdam Police Department. The incident took place on Aug. 6, and the victim was less than 15 years old, which Orsini Jr. was aware of, said the release.

Orsini’s father, Jeffrey Orsini Sr., said his son is a full-time student at Hudson Valley Community College, studying earth science, and works a part-time cleaning job in the early mornings and on weekends.

“He’s a good kid, with a good heart, and he’s productive in society. This is a sad situation,” said Jeffrey Orsini Sr. of his son.

According to Jeffrey Orsini Sr., another of his sons told him that Jeffrey Orsini Jr. had consensual sex with the female.

“It’s just unfortunate for him that she was a minor,” said the father, noting that his son was upset and “not in a good state right now.” Jeffrey Orsini Sr. said he had not talked to his son since Sunday.

“He’s a good kid,” reiterated Jeffrey Orsini Sr. “He did not go out there with malicious intent, and he is not a menace to society.”

Jeffrey Orsini Jr. was arraigned in Rotterdam Town Court and was sent to Schenectady County Jail on $100,000 bail, the Rotterdam Police said.
