Beverly M. Calhoun
GUILDERLAND Beverly M. Calhoun, a wife and mother who was active in community affairs, died on Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at her Guilderland home. She was 85.
Born and educated in Ayer, Mass. she was the daughter of the late Walter and Etta Corkum Fellows, and the adopted daughter of the late Lyman and Lena Corkum Palmer.
She was employed by Lovell General Hospital in Fort Devons, Mass in the payroll department and by General Accident and Patomac Ins. in Albany.
She was a member and past deacon of the Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church; a member of the Guilderland Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary; past president of Guilderland Memorial Post 5294 Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary which was disbanded 1998; a life member of Colonie Robert L. Weininger Memorial Post 8692 VFW Ladies Auxiliary; a member of Guilderland Lodge 2480 Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Ladies Auxiliary; Guilderland American Association of Retired Persons 980 and Telephone Company Pioneer Partner.
She was the wife of 54 years to the late Frederick W. Calhoun who died on Dec.11, 1999.
Survivors include her beloved son, Michael D. Calhoun, and several cousins in Nova Scotia, Massachusetts, and Minnesota.
A memorial service was held Monday at the Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church in Guilderland. Arrangements are by the Fredendall Funeral Home in Altamont. Interment was in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Guilderland.
