Unsigned flyers is dirty politics

To the Editor:

We received a political flyer in the mail. Travis Stevens was trashed.

The flyer stated that Mr. Stevens owed $45,012. 57 in back taxes to the town of Knox and another $100,000-plus in clean up of an abandoned gasoline station in Knox.

I was appalled! What does Mr. Stevens have to do with his great aunt’s property? He had not yet been born when Ms. Stevens opened her country store with gasoline.

Who sent this? There is no other name printed on the notice, only a return address of 10 Dock Street, Coeymans, N.Y. 12045.

The state, not Knox would pay for clean-up of abandoned properties. When Tom, Dan, and I ran Ketchum’s Service in Altamont, Country Convenience in Princetown, and the Westerlo General Store, we paid a fee on every gallon of gasoline we purchased for 33 years to the state toward a clean-up fund.

This is dirty politics! Worse yet, the cowardly writer of the flyer did not sign his name.

Travis received our votes!
