Mendelssohn Club seeks singers

The Mendelssohn Club of Albany will hold auditions in October for male singers interested in joining the club for its 108th season. Interested tenors and basses are invited to rehearse with the club on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 7:15 p.m. at the New Covenant Presbyterian Church at 916 Western Ave. in Albany.

About The Mendelssohn Club: A Capital Region tradition since 1909, the 65-voice male chorus is the area's longest continuously performing arts group.

Prospective members are invited to sing with the club during the first few rehearsals in September. Rehearsals are held every Wednesday, and final auditions will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 7. For more information, go online to www.mendelssohn.org or e-mail the club at info@mendelssohn.org.

The Mendelssohn Club will perform its traditional holiday concert on Friday, Dec. 11, at The Egg in Albany. Other upcoming performances include the Vietnam Veterans Watchfire at the Altamont fairgrounds on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 4 p.m., and a performance with the Music Company Orchestra at Shenendehowa Middle School on Nov. 1 at 4 p.m.
