Duanesburg High gets grants for weights

The Duanesburg Central School District received a $7,500 Muscle Milk Recovery Grant to purchase high school fitness room equipment, including free weights, a universal weight system, ropes, and an elliptical machine.

The district was selected from more than 450 applicants and is one of two schools in New York and 19 nationwide to be awarded one of the grants by CytoSport Inc., a Benicia, California, sports nutrition company.

“The $7,500 Muscle Milk Recovery Grant will provide valuable funding that will enable DCS to replace fitness equipment that is worn and no longer meeting our students’ needs,” said Duanesburg Superintendent Christine Crowley in a release from the district.

Duanesburg is replacing its cramped and outdated weight room, located in an area intended for storage, with a more suitable, safer space. The grant that will help fund the fitness equipment for that space was written in cooperation with the Capital Region Board of Cooperative Educational Services Grants Service.
