Felon found with cocaine in car

GUILDERLAND — An Oneida County man was arrested for cocaine possession after a routine traffic stop on Saturday.

Officers from the Guilderland Police Department stopped Marvin F. Franz, of Rome, at 3:35 a.m., for a vehicle and traffic violation on Western Avenue, according to a press release.

While the officers were speaking to Franz, a quantity of cocaine, packaged for distribution, was observed in plain view by the driver’s side seat.

Franz was arrested for third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, with intent to sell, both felonies, and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, the press release said. 

Mr. Franz is a convicted felon.

He was arraigned in Guilderland Town Court by Judge Denise Randall and sent to Albany County Jail. He is due back in court on July 30.
