Catskill High Peaks Music Festival set for August

RENSSELAERVILLE — Artists from around the world will gather in August at The Carey Institute for Global Good in the Helderbergs for the Catskill High Peaks Music Festival.

The 10-day chamber music festival, which runs from Aug. 9 to 19, will include classes and concerts with performances by internationally renowned violinist Peter Zazofsky, pianist and conductor Michael Chertock, as well as Yehuda Hanani, the cellist who is directing the festival.

The performances are open to local audiences and the program also features a “Buddy Day" on Aug. 19, in which students from musically underserved Capital Region schools will interact with the masters and residents, culminating with a performance that evening.

Artists will come from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mexico, France, Japan and Korea.

Prices range from free to $30. Tickets may be reserved by calling 518-797-5100 or purchased at the door.
