Officer saves the day

To the Editor:

Monday morning as I was driving east on Route 20 near the public library, a Guilderland paramedic vehicle with siren on was traveling west.  I pulled over, but the utility truck in back of me decided to pass me and in doing so knocked off the back of my driver's side mirror.

As the driver of the truck seemed unaware that he hit me, I called 9-1-1. At that point, I didn't know if there was more damage than just the mirror.  When I was able to get the attention of the driver, we both pulled into a parking lot.

Guilderland Officer Roger Ginder responded and took the details, gave us copies of the Accident Information Exchange form, and left the scene.  I remained in the lot to call my insurance carrier.

Imagine my pleased surprise, when a few minutes later, Officer Ginder returned to the parking lot with my mirror!  This officer took the time (in the rain no less!) to go back and look for my mirror! He even tried to re-attach it for me!

Thank you, Officer Ginder, for going above and beyond. It was truly appreciated and you made my day!
