HVCC honors top students

These local Hudson Valley Community College students were among nearly 200 of the college's top students honored with a variety of academic achievement awards recently:

— Tori Bender of Schenectady, was given the Academic Excellence in Anatomy and Physiology Award, given to a student who has shown particularly high achievement in the study of anatomy and physiology. The award is handed out by the Biology, Chemistry and Physics academic program;

Julia Manobianco of Guilderland, was given the Academic Excellence in Earth Science Award, given to a student who has shown academic excellence in the study of earth science. The award is handed out by the Biology, Chemistry and Physics academic program;

Meaghan Morrison of Schenectady, was given the Academic Excellence in General Biology Award, given to a student who has shown particular academic excellence in his or her study of general biology. The award is handed out by the Biology, Chemistry and Physics academic program;

Jessica Walsh of Slingerlands, was given the Academic Excellence in General Biology Award, given to a student who has shown particular academic excellence in his or her study of general biology. The award is handed out by the Biology, Chemistry and Physics academic program;

Larry Krusieski of Slingerlands, was given the Outstanding Mechanical Engineering Technology Student Award, given to the most outstanding graduate in the Mechanical Engineering Technology of the Civil, Construction, Industrial and Mechanical Technology Department. The award is handed out by the Civil, Construction, Industrial and Mechanical Technologies academic program;

Steven Philippi of Slingerlands, was given the English Department Four L Award: Celebrating Language, Literature, Learning and Laughter, presented to a graduating senior in a Liberal Arts or Individual Studies program who has excelled in English. The award is handed out by the English, Foreign Languages and English As A Second Language academic program; and

Jennifer Lynn Ryan of Delmar, was given the Academic Excellence in Chemical Dependency Counseling Award, given to the most outstanding member of the Chemical Dependency Counseling graduating class. The award is handed out by the Human Services and Chemical Dependency Counseling academic program.

Megan Longworth of Voorheesville, was given the Albany Medical Center Hospital Award for Service Excellence, which is given to an outstanding student in the Nursing class. The award is handed out by the Nursing academic program.

Desiree Anderson of Guilderland, was given the Patricia Jablonski Award for Caring, Compassion and Commitment, which is given to an outstanding student in the Nursing class in honor of emeritus faculty member Patricia Jablonski. The award is handed out by the Nursing academic program; and

Hillary Beck of Schenectady, was given the Award for Academic Excellence in Early Childhood, which is given to a graduating student who has shown overall academic excellence in the pursuit of their Early Childhood degree. The award is handed out by the Teacher Preparation academic program.
