Johnson, Bates to marry

Emaline Anna Johnson and James Edward Bates

ALTAMONT — William and Kathy Johnson of Altamont are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Emaline Anna Johnson, to James Edward Bates, son of Julie and Robert McRobie of Oswego, New York, and Edward Bates of Baldwinsville, New York.

The couple met at SUNY Geneseo while earning their undergraduate degrees, both graduating in 2011.  They continued their educations at the University of Rochester where the future bride earned master’s degrees in childhood education and literacy education at the Warner School of Education.   Ms. Johnson is currently a fourth-grade teacher at Seton Catholic School in Rochester.  Dr. Bates graduated in May from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and will be completing his internship year in internal medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

An early summer 2016 wedding is planned, and the couple will be moving to the Gainesville, Florida, where Dr. Bates will complete his residency at radiation oncology.
