Capital Region BOCES to host High-Tech U Camp this summer

Capital Region high school students may take part in a four-day camp this summer to learn about careers in technology.
SEMI High-Tech U Camp runs from July 21 to 24, and is open to students in ninth through 12th grades.

The camp takes place at two places — the Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering at the University at Albany and at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Campers will also learn about educational opportunities available at Hudson Valley Community College’s TEC-SMART center and at Schenectady County Community College.

“Students don’t have to be ‘A’ students to at tend SEMI High Tech U — they just need to be curious and open to the possibility of a career in high technology,” according to a release from the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical School. Campers will meet each day at the CTE campus, located at 1015 Watervliet-Shaker Road in Albany. Transportation from the technical school to various meeting locations will be provided.

Campers should plan on arriving at 8:30 a.m. daily unless directed otherwise. Dismissal times will vary.

For both camps, scholarships are available to cover tuition. There are no prerequisites. Participants are to register online at http://summercamp.questar.org/camp.php.
