Solarize Albany starts countywide campaign

To the Editor:

While many of us are concerned about climate change, energy independence, rising electricity bills, and the threats that over reliance on fossil fuels presents to our health, safety, and the environment, I want to make readers aware of a new opportunity we all have to take action against these threats to our well being.

A new not-for-profit organization, Solarize Albany, is starting a countywide campaign to lower the cost of solar power generation for residential and small business customers.

Don’t miss your opportunity to hear about using collective buying, thereby reducing your price to purchase or lease solar panels to generate clean energy from the sun. Join the Solarize Albany volunteers on Friday, May 1, at 7 p.m. in Emerson Hall at the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Albany at 405 Washington Ave. in Albany to hear more about this great chance for you.

Childcare and refreshments will be available. Please contact Carol Butt (caroleebutt@gmail.com) if you think you will need childcare.

For more information, find us on Facebook under SolarizeAlbanyNY, on our website , or contact us at solarizealbany@gmail.com.  If you would like to help us in this effort, we would be glad to have you join us when we meet every Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Honest Weight Food Co-op.
