With the hills behind him, Colin Young, 38, of Williamstown, Massachusetts, crosses the finish line first setting a new male record at 17:09 in Saturday’s fourth annual Sap Run 5K in Knox.

KNOX — Colin Young and Meg Versteegan set two new time records at last Saturday’s fourth annual Sap Run 5K in Knox.

Young, 38, of Williamstown, Massachusetts, set a new male record at 17:09. Top female Versteegen, 36, of Schenectady, broke the old female record with 20:54.

Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara kicked off Maple Weekend in the Hilltowns with remarks at the beginning of the Sap Run. The weather cooperated as 155 runners and walkers traversed the hilly course.

The Helderberg Hilltowns Association coordinated the event, which drew out-of-state athletes from Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont. White Knight Timing and Race Management provided the timing for the race. Results are posted online on HHA’s website: www.hilltowns.org/5k-sap-run-2015-results.html.

Local businesses sponsoring this year’s race included Stitched Creations, Alpaca Shack, the law office of Aline D. Galgay, Pritchard Enterprizes, Longfield Farm, Newcombs Farm, Octagon Barn, and Maple on the Lake. Mountain Winds Farm provided the maple syrup awards.
