Fleeing after break-in, Cascini was driving drunk

GUILDERLAND — Jeffrey Mark Cascini, 40, of 1026 O’Brien Ave., Schenectady, was arrested on Mar. 11 by Guilderland Police for attempted burglary and felony DWI, driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol.  

Cascini tried to enter a locked garage door by breaking a window at a home on Ostrander Road at about 6 p.m. on Friday, March 11.

Deputy Chief Curtis Cox told The Enterprise that the resident was at home and called police. Cascini had fled the scene before police arrived, but was stopped a short distance away for vehicle and traffic violations.

He was charged with second-degree attempted burglary, driving while ability impaired by drugs or of alcohol with a previous conviction within 10 years, and driving while intoxicated, all felonies. He was also arrested for fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor; and no headlamps, failure to keep right, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and speeding, all infractions.

Cascini was arraigned in Guilderland Town Court and was remanded to the Albany County jail.

A jail representative said on Wednesday that Cascini was no longer in custody.

Cascini could not be reached for comment.
