Good things can happen when officials work together

To the Editor:

It is rewarding when we in government work together to help provide and enhance senior services in our communities. This past week, the Albany County congregate meal site opened at the Hilltown Senior Center in Berne. The program is offered by Helderberg Seniors Services Inc. and sponsored by the Albany County Department for Aging. Meals are provided by the Altamont Program.

We all realize that it is important for our families, friends, and neighbors to maintain an independent and active lifestyle whenever possible. Providing our seniors with a congregate meal is a great opportunity to get to have a nutritious meal and socialize with our friends.

I want to congratulate and thank Knox Senior Services Coordinator,Charlotte Fuss for her hard work and dedication to our community. We will all continue to work together with our local community organizations to bring county services to our towns.

For those interested in this particular program, lunch will be available every Monday, Tuesday, and Friday at noon. Please make reservations in advance by calling 872-9400 or email [email protected]

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the Albany County Department for Aging at 447-7177 or me at 447-7164
