Kathy Fiero is a leader and advocate for students

To the Editor:
I am writing to voice my support for Kathy Fiero who is running for a seat on the Voorheesville School Board. As a former colleague and friend, I can’t say enough about Kathy, especially her work ethic and dedication to the students of Voorheesville.

I worked with Kathy when I was an elementary teacher at Voorheesville. We connected immediately especially with our love for math. Kathy would always leave the room and come back the next day with new ideas or strategies for the kids.

I also worked with Kathy for over 10 years as the vice president of our teachers’ union. Here I saw Kathy in a different light, as a leader and advocate for students and teachers. What I always admired about Kathy was that she was a listener and she was all in when it came to the students at Voorheesville.

Kathy wasn’t only an educator at Voorheesville, but a parent and active community member serving on the School Community Foundation, Conservation Board, Zoning Board, and Strategic Planning Committee.

She is invested and bleeds purple and gold. Anyone who advocates for children as much as she has and has the institutional knowledge of Voorheesville is a slam dunk.

As a former student and staff member in the Voorheesville School District, I think Kathy is a solid choice for the school board.
